Environmental Workshops
|
At Sage, we understand the importance of having environmental staff on hand who understand the ins and outs of
compliance. It’s why we offer a variety of training options, ranging from multi-day on-site workshops, to webinars,
to custom classes designed specifically for your facility. In all of these environments, Sage knows that experience
is the best teacher – it’s why our expert training staff consists of real scientists and engineers, with practical
experience in many industrial sectors, including oil and gas, chemicals, energy, and manufacturing.
Sage’s training staff has time-tested skills for delivery of both formal & informal presentations, either in
face-to-face settings or in a variety of multi-media formats. We’ve developed and produced over a dozen
videos/DVDS on various environmental topics, developed scripts; implemented production shoots, narrated
presentations and oversaw editing for these training modules. We also know what business and psychological
aspects need to be addressed to assure the production of successful training programs and workshops.
Most importantly, Sage doesn’t just have oil and gas expertise; we have experience in adult learning methodology,
development of curriculum, and training facilitation.
NPRA SUNDAY WORKSHOP - LEAK DETECTION AND REPAIR (LDAR)
Conducted in speaker presentation and discussion format, the presentations developed and
given by Sage staff included embedded video from the EPA Infrared Camera studies, Refinery
Consent Decree work products, and a guest speaker presentation from EPA NEIC. Sage handled
topic selection, speaker selection, presentation coordination and quality control, workshop
facilitation, and workshop presentation logistics and responsibilities.
NPRA Workshop - Start-up, Shutdown, Maintenance, Malfunction and Upset (SSMMU)
Sage developed and facilitated a panel-format workshop on Start-up, Shutdown, Maintenance,
Malfunction and Upset (SSMMU) – critical issues that can affect the petroleum refining and
petrochemical industries. The three-member panels consisted of industry and agency
representatives, and Sage contributed to enhanced panel discussions by developing
pre-published Questions and Answer (Q&A) materials. The two technical topic presentations
were given by industry representatives, with Sage’s assistance and facilitation.
Sage managed the topic selection, speaker selection, panel Q&A development, quality
assurance, and workshop facilitation, coordination and presentation.
PETROSKILLS TRAINING
Petroskills is an international petroleum training alliance with members such as Chevron,
Repsol, Shell, ConocoPhillips, Halliburton, Total, among others. The purpose of the alliance
is to develop high quality courses, with member collaboration of design and competency
requirements, and then provide training on the approved courses. Two of Sage’s staff members
are developer/ instructors for several of the Petroskills environmental courses. This is a
highly selective alliance, and instructors must undergo a rigorous training evaluation and have
knowledge of the petroleum industry. They are also evaluated after the delivery of each course,
which normally runs 5 days and can be given in various Petroskills international locations. Sage
has worked with alliance members to develop a basic environmental course, an advance environmental
course, a course on environmental impacts and community relations, and a course on air dispersion
modeling.
"BWON ESSENTIALS" TRAINING
Sage has developed, produced and taught specialized training on the Benzene Waste Organic
NESHAPS (BWON) rule for US petroleum refining, petrochemical and chemical companies. Sage has
produced three separate workshops and trained over 50 industry representatives since June, 2008.
The Sage BWON Essentials training class is conducted in a classroom format with a combination of
powerpoint presentations, hands-on exercises, and interactive activities.
LDAR ESSENTIALS
Expanding on our successful BWON workshops, Sage is currently developing and producing an LDAR
Essential class to be given end of the summer 2009. This class also will be conducted in classroom
format with a combination of PowerPoint presentations, hands-on exercises, and interactive activities.
AIR DISPERSION MODELING TRAINING (ENVIROMOD-U)
Classes consist of practical, hands-on training, not just theory. Classes are taught by an affiliated company (Oris Solutions) by instructors who also have performed the work that they teach. Class size is kept small to allow for
individual instruction, and the goal is to have students leave with the tools and knowledge
required for all their modeling needs. Courses that have been developed and taught include a
two-day introductory course that covers the basics of air dispersion modeling for industrial
permits. This course focuses on screening techniques using SCREEN3 and refined modeling with
AERMOD, which includes building downwash & receptor grid considerations. We have also developed
a course on Practical CALPUFF, where students learn how to use the most advanced EPA Guideline
Model.
